Countdown
in Athens
|
| 09.08.04
It is the third time in a row, after Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000, that
JOOLA supplies the equipment for the Olympic games. In Athens the best table
tennis players will fight for gold on the material of the company from Siebeldingen.
Last week - 2 weeks before the opening ceremony in Athens - the countdown for JOOLA began with the installation of the tables and game boxes in the Galatsi Olympic Hall, the venue of the table tennis competitions. Under the supervision of JOOLA production manager Joachim Fess and with the help of many volunteers of the ATHOC (Athens Organizing Committee), it took only 2 days to set up the equipment, which consider that it filled a complete truck was a real achievement. JOOLA designed a totally new, so-called "show court" table, which will only be used for such exceptional events and will not be on general sale. The design is a cooperation of two designers Karen Donndorf, Berlin, and Ursula Rothfuss, Los Angeles - the stable metal undercarriage is encased with aluminium moulds and illuminated underneath the table top.
