1. JOOLA European Large Ball Open

In Japan "Large Ball Fever" has already broken out - almost every weekend players of all classes and ages - sometimes up to 3000 - fight with dogged determination. Large Ball is played with a very lightweight 44mm large ball, a 2 cm higher net and - what definitely contributes to the popularity - with pimples out bats (only short pimples with sponge are allowed).

Large Ball will certainly become famous in Europe soon as well, not only because of the 1st JOOLA European Large Ball Challenge and not as an alternative to traditional table tennis, but as a new trend and very funny addition. We also expect 100 participants from Japan.

Age and tournament classes:
2. October 2005 at 9:30
Under 40: all players under 40 (Birthday after 31.12.1966)
Over 40: all players over 40 (Birthday 31.12.1966 and older)
Over 50: all players over 50 (Birthday 31.12.1956 and older)
Over 60: all players over 60 (Birthday 31.12.1946 and older)
If less than 6 players the organizers reserve the right to combine classes.
Age classification according to date set by the ITTF, ETTU and DTTB.
3. October 2005 at 9.30 Uhr
Open class men: all men without age classification
Open class women: all women without age classification
In all classes singles, doubles and mixed is played. Singles are played in groups with at least 3 players.
Followed by KO system. Consolation round for all losers from groups in all classes.
Prizes: Cups, diplomas and prizes for the 3 winners of each class, consolation prizes
Entry fees : Euro 20.- for 2 classes (Age division and Open division) including certificate of participation and welcome gift. The starting money has to be paid on date of tournament.
Closing date: 18th September 2005
Subsequent entries until one hour before start of tournament (fee 5 Euro)

Rules:

On principle the ITTF rules of table tennis apply.
However, Large Ball Table Tennis is played with some modified rules:

1. Only short pimples out rubbers with sponge are allowed.
2. The net is 2 cm higher.
3. The ball size is 44mm.
